Syracuse v. Duke

Syracuse sits squarely on the bubble as it heads into Cameron Indoor searching for a resume defining win. If Syracuse wants to breathe easier on selection Sunday, this win will certainly help. Duke is arguably playing the most balance basketball in the nation right now. Duke cannot afford a let-down after Saturday’s stunning last second victory over Florida State. Syracuse will come to play, but Duke pulls out the game late.

Prediction: Duke over Syracuse

Virginia Tech v. Virginia

These two instate rivals meet for the first time as top-10 programs. Virginia has been on a roll all season and Ty Jerome and Kyle Guy are on a redemption tour after last season’s early tournament exit. This will be Virginia’s toughest test of the season to date, as Buzz Williams has the Hokies clicking on all cylinders. In a game that will be decided by who has the ball last, Virginia keeps its undefeated season alive.

Prediction: Virginia over Virginia Tech

Duke v. Virginia

In what may be an early look at the ACC title game, Duke and Virginia will both come into this match-up with a lot at stake. Even though it’s only mid-January, these two teams know that a win in this game will go a long way to claim the number one seed in the East come March. Duke and its young core of Williamson, Reddish and Barret will go toe-to-toe with Virginia’s veteran core of Ty Jerome and Kyle Guy in what promises to be a thriller. Virginia, coming off a huge in-state game versus Virginia Tech, will keep the momentum going and steal this game from the Dukies at Cameron Indoor.

Prediction: Virginia over Duke

Kentucky v. Auburn

The biggest question going into this game may be what color suit Bruce Pearl will be wearing on gameday. Kentucky has been spreading the ball around nicely this season and seem to be positioning themselves for a second half run. Auburn, led by Jared Harper, have the firepower to compete with anyone in the country. This will be a back-and-forth game, but Auburn will make more key shots down the stretch to pull out the win.

Prediction: Auburn over Kentucky

UPSET ALERT

Houston v. South Florida

This is not your father’s South Florida Bulls team. They are tough minded, and led by an underrated coach in Brian Gregory. Houston comes into this game red-hot.  Corey Davis, Jr. and Armmoni Brooks have been a nice one-two combo this season. However, the Bull’s with a collective team effort, will knock off Houston and start believing they may have postseason aspirations.

Prediction: South Florida over Houston
